Proudly located in Tonawanda, we over at Ivy Lea Construction take pride in the revitalization that is happening in Western New York. Whether talking about Mr. Pegula and downtown Waterfront development or all the exciting things happening in all the surrounding suburbs, it is clear that this region is on a trajectory toward a golden age. At least we can hope. All the hubbub, and rightfully so, is centered around business development and new buildings being constructed in Downtown Buffalo.
The running joke has been that the skyline of Buffalo hasn’t seen a crane or construction workers since the Pan-Am Exposition! That has certainly changed and the excitement is certainly palpable. But at Ivy Lea Construction, we think the hubbub should also focus on all the housing renovations that people are doing in all the counties. There are a lot of new homes being built and many who aren’t interested in constructing new homes are surely interested in renovating the ones they already have.
Any economic revival certainly depends on new businesses and downtown development, but it’s also important that the everyman gets his fair due. When the average American is able to get a new roof or renovate their kitchen, it’s a good sign; it means that they are invested in the area, that they see their lives as being firmly planted in the region. That puts a smile on our faces. Just take a drive around your neighborhood; chances are you’ll see houses that were once dilapidated and crusty-looking shining like desert sand on a hot summer day.
